Project Overview

Located in the heart of Ankara at Çankaya/Balgat, in the center of diplomacy and business, Meyra Palace Hotel is a prestigious establishment that combines Seljuk architecture with modern luxury.

However, there was a major disconnect between the hotel's magnificent physical presence and its digital representation. The existing website fell short of expectations in terms of user experience and brand identity.

Within the scope of the project, I personally handled every process — from user research and needs analysis to creating an original design language, professional photography, and the final website design. My core goal was to rebuild Meyra Palace's architectural grandeur and premium service approach through a flawless digital experience.

This case study covers the comprehensive transformation process I carried out to bring the hotel's refined service approach into the digital world.

Discovery and Needs Analysis

At the start of the project, I analyzed the gap between the hotel's physical magnificence and its digital identity. The existing website was far from meeting the expectations of diplomatic protocols and high-level business users — a structure that wore the user out and diminished the brand's prestige. In my user research, I identified that the target audience cared as much about speed and mobile accessibility as they did about the perception of luxury.

Strategic Planning and Interface Architecture

I designed the homepage not just as an entrance, but as a "discovery area" that summarizes the hotel's entire world. We built the core service sections — rooms, weddings, and restaurant — with strategic cards that direct the user straight to their goal. The idea of an Ankara tourism guide and corporate social responsibility cards I proposed positioned the brand as more than a hotel — an actor that adds value to the city.

Turning the homepage into a discovery area was a strong move for the brand story, but it was risky because it increased the page length (scroll depth). For diplomatic users seeking fast action, reaching the CTA (Call to Action) and Footer at the bottom of the page could become harder. To address this, I kept the visual hierarchy very tight, so users could reach the final reservation focus without getting lost in this long flow.

This structure successfully completed one of the project's strongest aspects — the "holistic experience" vision.

Visual Identity and Design Language

I carried the hotel's Seljuk architectural heritage into the digital interface through geometric forms inspired by Anatolian carpet patterns. To reflect the brand's gravitas, I established navy blue and gilded gold tones as the primary color palette. To balance this visual language with a modern user experience, I used generous white space.

I maintained a mobile-first approach at every stage of the design, ensuring the magnificent desktop experience also worked on mobile devices without compromising speed. With detailed room pages, I aimed for users to experience the feeling of luxury digitally before reservation.

Visual Impasse and Production Solution

As the design process was nearing completion, I realized that the hotel's existing photo archive did not reflect the brand's quality. The visuals provided by the advertising agency were far below the premium design language I had crafted. When the photos that gave the site its soul were missing, the entire impact of the design was lost.

At this point, we proposed a professional photo shoot, which was approved by the hotel management. I conducted an intensive two-day photo shoot.

Taking on the role of photographer in addition to my project role could have endangered the delivery deadline by greatly increasing the workload — but it was the only solution to prevent the "poor visuals" disaster in this project.

Conclusion

At the end of the Meyra Palace Hotel project, a prestigious and user-focused digital experience was built that completely eliminated the gap between the hotel's magnificent physical presence and its digital identity.

The data obtained from user research at the beginning of the design process was turned into reality with a structure that both reflects architectural grandeur and meets modern technological requirements.
